DataGroup System Cell Support

Parametric Frame Builder cells (*.bxf), PC Studio cells (*.paz), compound cells (*.bxc), and cells (*.cel) are object file types that can be placed using door, window, cabinet, and user defined catalog type tools.

While availability and placement of these objects is seamless, there are differences between the object types.

Differences Between Object File Types

  • Parametric Frame Builder cells and PC Studio cells are unique from the standpoint that each individual file contains only one architectural object. Cell libraries and Building compound cell libraries contain collections of objects; at least one per file and in most cases several objects per file.
  • Objects in the cell and Building compound cell do not have to be parametric.
  • Cells are located for placement based on corresponding configuration variables. When cells and Building compound cells are associated with catalog items, the file name corresponds to the cell name and not the name of the cell library. This is different from how Parametric Frame Builder cells and PC Studio cells are associated with catalog items.
